Strategic Plan 2025-2029
The Rice Council of Tanzania Limited (RCT) is the apex body representing private sector stakeholders across the entire rice value chain in Tanzania. This includes farmers, input suppliers, processors, traders, service providers, financiers, researchers, consumer organizations, and NGOs. RCT was officially registered in June 2014 with the mandate to spearhead, coordinate, and advocate for the development of the rice industry in the country.
Through its Strategic Plan, RCT outlines a clear roadmap to guide and support the transformation of Tanzania’s rice sector by focusing on:
Policy Advocacy – Engaging government and development partners to create an enabling environment for rice sector growth.
Value Chain Coordination – Promoting collaboration and efficiency among actors from production to consumption.
Capacity Building – Empowering stakeholders with knowledge, skills, and access to modern technologies.
Market Development – Facilitating access to local, regional, and international markets for Tanzanian rice.
Innovation and Research – Supporting research and the adoption of innovations that enhance productivity and competitiveness.
Since its establishment, RCT has played a vital role in unifying stakeholders, aligning national efforts, and promoting sustainable growth of the rice industry in Tanzania. The Strategic Plan serves as a guiding framework to ensure that the rice sector contributes meaningfully to food security, economic development, and poverty reduction.
